"Kole kole
Arombai kole
Tanah Ambon sudah djauh
Arombai kole
Manise manise

Sama santen dengan gula
Su terlalu manise"

Relaxing day at work. Spend time with friends, old and new. See a great show. Take a late bus, passing by one of the world's greatest skylines. Listen to a keroncong album.

That's exactly what I had today. That feeling that arises when you feel blessed.

And suddenly that dying flame of happiness just glowed again.

P/s: Song is titled "Kole-Kole", somewhat a fusion of Dutch lyrics and Indonesian keroncong. It is common amongst the Ambonese to write songs saying how far they are from home and how sad they feel. The version I listened to was by Krontjong Panjanji.

The Red Book

"Look around you. Appreciate the small things that make you happy, things that you have that others don't,"

Often we hear such encouraging words being given out, quite loosely even.

But tell that to someone who has very, very little to be happy about. See if he gets offended.

Sorry, but I'm just being a realist.

"Bola sebijik berebut-rebut. Dah dapat dibuang-buang" -my grandmother when talking about football.

Yes. She has lots of wisdom in that mind of hers, one that I came to respect greatly. Of great timing as well, as to welcome EURO 2012.

We don't have to guess which team I'm supporting.
